Syracuse University was founded in 1870 in Syracuse, NY. It offers a wide range of academic courses and degrees including the Master of Arts (M.A.) degree program in museum studies. Through hands-on curriculum like training, research, scholarship and design, students are taught how to prepare for a selection of museum professions. Through first hand experiences, professors are able to guide students through the ins and outs of museums as well as the requirements for specific positions. One aspect of the Museum Studies program at Syracuse is the summer internship. While promoting the idea of experience based learning, Visual and Performing Arts staff members have found it important for students to complete an internship. Meng Qi completed her internship at the Xinyang City Museum in July 2013.
